Shakib Al Hasan has received a call-up from Lahore Qalandars to play in the Pakistan Super League. However, he’s still waiting for permission from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) before joining the team. The decision is expected soon.
PSL and IPL Restart Amid Conflict Challenges

After being stopped due to tensions between India and Pakistan, both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) are now getting ready to restart from May 17. But the return of these leagues is not going smoothly. Many foreign players have gone back to their countries because of security worries, which has made the teams struggle to rebuild their squads.
Franchises Look for Replacements
With many overseas players leaving, the franchises are now trying to fill the empty spots quickly. They are calling new players to join the teams and bring balance. Two top Bangladeshi cricketers have been contacted — Mustafizur Rahman and The Tiger All-Rounder.
- Mustafizur Rahman has reportedly received an offer from the Delhi Capitals in the IPL.
- Shakib Al Hasan has been approached by the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL.
Both offers come at a crucial time when teams are desperate for experienced players.
Shakib Al Hasan’s PSL Comeback Possibility

Even though Shakib Al Hasan was included in the PSL player draft earlier this season, he went unsold at the time. Now, as Lahore Qalandars look for strong replacements, they’ve chosen to bring Shakib into the team midway through the tournament.
However, the Lahore Qalandars haven’t officially announced Shakib’s signing yet. A reliable source close to the player told Jago News that The Tiger All-Rounder has received an official offer from the PSL side and is interested in playing.
Clearance from BCB Needed Before Joining

Even though Lahore Qalandars are keen to have him, Shakib still needs permission from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to join. This clearance is called an NOC (No Objection Certificate). Without it, he cannot take part in the PSL — even if he plays from outside the country.
Sources say Shakib has already started contacting BCB officials to get the required permission. He has even tried to call Nazmul Abedin Fahim, his mentor and a BCB director. However, Fahim said he missed the call because he was attending a board meeting.
Shakib has reached out to several other key figures within the board. It is expected that he may receive the NOC by tonight or tomorrow morning. If all goes well, the Bangladeshi star will be able to play for Lahore Qalandars for the rest of the PSL 2025 season.
Conclusion: Waiting for the Final Green Signal
As teams in both the IPL and PSL rebuild after a sudden halt, experienced players like Shakib are in high demand. With Shakib ready and willing to return to T20 action, all that stands in his way now is the green signal from BCB. Once that’s sorted, fans may see Shakib shining again in PSL colors — this time for the Lahore Qalandars.
Fans in Bangladesh and across the cricket world will be eagerly waiting for an official announcement soon.
