A new case has been filed against Virat Kohli after a tragic stampede killed 11 people during RCB’s celebration in Bengaluru. A social activist blames Kohli for the large crowd. Police are now investigating the shocking incident.
Stampede During RCB Celebration Kills 11 People

A big tragedy happened during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) title celebration in Bengaluru. Eleven people lost their lives in a stampede outside the stadium. Now, a case has been filed, and Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has been named in it.
Why Was Kohli Named in the Case?

A social activist named HM Venkatesh, from Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, filed the case. He said that thousands of fans had gathered because of Kohli’s huge popularity. He questioned why the celebration continued even after news of the stampede came in.
The case was filed at Cubbon Park Police Station in Bengaluru. Police said they are looking into the complaint. They have not taken any action against Kohli yet, but they will check if the claims are true.
What Is Kohli Doing Now?
After the tragic incident, it was reported that Virat Kohli left India with his wife Anushka Sharma and their children. They have reportedly gone to London. Police haven’t made any statement about Kohli’s travel or involvement yet.
Organizers and Cricket Board Also in Trouble
The Bengaluru Police have also filed a case on their own (called a suo motu FIR) against:
- DNA Entertainment, the event organizers
- Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), the state cricket board
Because of this, KSCA officials went to court fearing arrest. On Friday, the Karnataka High Court said police cannot take strict action against them for now. The court also said that these officials:
- Cannot leave Karnataka without court permission
- Must help in the police investigation
Government Acts After the Tragedy
The Karnataka government acted quickly. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah:
- Removed the Bengaluru Police Commissioner
- Dismissed other senior police officers
He also said the government plans to arrest RCB and KSCA officials.
Court and CID Investigations Begin
The Karnataka High Court is also handling a case on this matter. It wants a full report from the state government.
In response, the state said:
- The CID (Crime Investigation Department) will lead the probe
- A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is being formed
- A magistrate-level report will be submitted in 15 days
The Chief Minister told the court that no one will be spared, and action will be taken against those responsible.
For now, Virat Kohli is not in legal trouble, but the case is under investigation. Police will decide after checking all facts.
