Singapore Returns to Dhaka After 10 Years

Singapore’s football team last visited Dhaka in 2015, when they played a friendly match and won 2-1. This time, they return with confidence and good memories. Two days before the team’s arrival, The Lions team manager came to check the stadium, practice fields, hotel, and other arrangements.
Their first training in Dhaka was held on Sunday at the Uttara Armed Police Field from 4 PM to 6:30 PM. They will also train at the Dhaka National Stadium on Monday evening, just one day before the big match.
A Long History Between Bangladesh and Singapore
Bangladesh and The Lions first played each other in 1973 during the Merdeka Cup in Malaysia. In that game, Kazi Md. Salahuddin scored for Bangladesh and the match ended 1-1. After the tournament, Bangladesh traveled to Singapore for two friendly games. Bangladesh won the first match 1-0, but lost the second to Singapore’s youth team 2-0.
In 2007, they met again in the Merdeka Cup. The Lions won that match 2-1, but Bangladesh had sent their B team because the main team was playing in India. In 2015, Singapore came to Dhaka and played a friendly match but lost 2-1 to the home side.
