The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup will take place from November 28 to December 10, 2025. Hockey India has announced that Chennai and Madurai in Tamil Nadu will be the host cities for this event. This will be the first time 24 teams will compete in this two-week-long tournament for the prestigious title.

This will be the third time India will host the FIH Junior Men’s World Cup, with previous events held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha in 2021, and Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh in 2016, where India emerged as the winner.

Hockey India President, Dr. Dilip Tirkey, expressed pride in hosting the event and thanked Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, Shri MK Stalin, and the Sports Minister, Shri Udhayanidhi Stalin, for their strong support in making this event possible.

With 24 teams participating, the event will be held in two cities – Chennai and Madurai. Chennai, which hosted the Asian Champions Trophy in 2023, will be joined by Madurai, which will host an international event of this size for the first time. This is an exciting opportunity to bring hockey to different parts of India.

Shri Bhola Nath Singh, Secretary General of Hockey India, also shared his thoughts, saying that the federation has a strong track record of hosting international events and will do everything possible to ensure the success of the FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup. The goal is to promote the sport across various locations in India.

Thanks to the support of the Tamil Nadu State Government and the guidance of our (Hockey India) Treasurer, Mr. Shekhar Manoharan, we were able to choose Chennai and Madurai as the locations for the event.

Shri Sekar Manoharan, Hockey India Treasurer and President of Hockey Tamil Nadu, shared his excitement about returning hockey to its former glory in Tamil Nadu. He said, “I am thankful to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri MK Stalin, and the Sports Minister, Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, for their enthusiasm and support for hockey.

We in Tamil Nadu are determined to bring back the golden years of hockey in our state. Chennai has long been a well-known venue for international hockey events, and we are eager to welcome hockey fans from around the world to experience our warm hospitality.”
