Sunrisers Hyderabad are yet to taste victory in IPL 2025, slumping to their fourth consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of Gujarat Titans in Hyderabad. On a dry and slow surface, SRH’s batting stuttered and their bowlers lacked venom as GT, on fire this season, chased down a target of 153 with ease winning by seven wickets and extending their unbeaten run.

SRH opted to bat but quickly lost momentum after losing Travis Head for a duck in the first over. Abhishek Sharma briefly countered with some boundaries but was dismissed by Siraj again. With GT on Fire and maintaining relentless pressure, SRH were crawling at 45/2 by the end of the PowerPlay – one of their lowest starts since 2024.

GT on Fire with the ball as middle-order contributions came in patches. Nitish Reddy and Klaasen tried to rebuild but the pitch made stroke play difficult. Klaasen hit the first six of the innings in the 13th over – a telling sign of SRH’s struggle. Rashid Khan bowled four wicketless overs, while Sai Kishore struck key blows, removing Klaasen and Reddy to finish with 2/24. Siraj’s deadly second spell cleaned up the tail, ending with 4/17. Pat Cummins added a late 22 off 9 to lift the score to 152/8.

Gujarat Titans didn’t begin well either, with Jos Buttler caught behind off Cummins for a duck and Sudharsan falling to Shami early. But Washington Sundar, promoted to No.4, launched a counter-attack. He hammered Simarjeet Singh for two fours and two sixes in a game-changing 20-run over.

GT on Fire as Sundar and Gill combined for a 90-run partnership, playing sensibly and neutralizing SRH’s middle-overs attack. Gill, calm and composed, played elegant strokes including a textbook cover drive off Cummins. SRH’s spin options failed to make a breakthrough, and when Sundar was finally dismissed on a marginal third-umpire call, the game was all but over.

Sherfane Rutherford ensured a smooth finish with a quick cameo, including a six off Cummins. Gill hit the winning run to seal a dominant GT victory. The Titans now sit firmly among the frontrunners of the season, while SRH are left searching for form, answers, and a win.
