Delhi Capitals looked unstoppable after winning their first four matches of the IPL season. But their unbeaten streak came to an end in dramatic fashion as they lost to Mumbai Indians by just 12 runs in a thrilling encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Mumbai piled up 205/5. Ryan Rickelton (41 off 25), Suryakumar Yadav (40 off 28), Tilak Verma (59 off 33), and Naman Dhir (38 off 17) contributed with explosive knocks to give Mumbai a strong total.

In response, Delhi were well on track, thanks to a blistering 89 off 40 balls from Karun Nair and 33 from Abhishek Porel. With just 23 needed off the final 12 balls, the stage was set for a tense finish.

However, Jasprit Bumrah’s 19th over flipped the script. After two boundaries from Ashutosh Sharma, Delhi collapsed with three run-outs in three consecutive deliveries Ashutosh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohit Sharma all falling to sharp fielding and risky running between the wickets. It was a rare and dramatic hat-trick of run-outs that sealed Delhi’s fate.

With this victory, Mumbai Indians registered their second win of the season, moving to 7th on the table with 4 points from 6 games. Delhi, despite the loss, remain second with 8 points from 5 matches, behind Gujarat Titans on net run rate.
