Women’s National Boxing 2025: Minakshi and Anamika Hooda Secure Final Spots

A total of 188 boxers from 24 associations competed in the Elite Women’s National Boxing Championship across 10 weight categories.

Defending champions Minakshi and Anamika Hooda continued their winning streak, securing spots in the finals with different types of victories.

Minakshi (45-48kg) dominated her match, defeating Delhi’s Sanjana with a third-round RSC win. On the other hand, Anamika Hooda (48-51kg) faced a tough challenge but edged past Tamil Nadu’s Kalaivani S in a close 4:3 split decision.

In the finals, Minakshi will fight Yasika Rai from Sikkim, while Anamika will take on Haryana’s Tamanna.

The Boxing Federation of India, in partnership with the Uttar Pradesh Boxing Association, is hosting the championship at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, from March 20 to 27, 2025. A total of 180 boxers from 24 state teams are competing in ten weight categories. The tournament follows World Boxing Technical & Competition Rules, with three three-minute rounds and one-minute breaks in between.

Jaismine Lamboria (SSCB) continued her impressive form, securing another RSC win in Round 3 against Punjab’s Vishaka Vartiya in the Featherweight (54-57kg) semifinals. The Commonwealth Games medallist has dominated her opponents with power and precision and will now face Haryana’s Priya, who defeated Railways’ Poonam to set up an exciting final.

In the 60-65kg category, World Championships silver medallist Sonia Lather secured a convincing 5:0 win over Maharashtra’s Poonam Kaithwas. She will now compete against Sanju (AIP) in the final after Sanju delivered a strong performance to advance.

In the 66-70kg category, Sanamacha Chanu (RSPB) continued her great form, winning unanimously against Imroz Khan from All India Police. The Youth World Champion will now face Haryana’s Saneh, who dominated her match with a 5-0 victory over Lalita.

In the 75-80kg category, Pooja Rani (AIP) secured a close 4-1 win over Railways’ Anupama and will compete against Lalfakmawi Ralte (AIP) in the final. Services’ Sakshi also won her match against Railways’ Savita with a unanimous decision and will face Abha Singh from All India Police.

In the Light Welterweight (60-65kg) final, Simranjit Kaur (Punjab) will battle Neeraj Phogat (Haryana) after both earned strong semifinal wins. In the Middleweight (70-75kg) category, Anjali (Punjab) and Muskan (RSPB) will compete for the title. Meanwhile, in the 80+kg division, defending champion Nupur (RSPB) will take on Kiran (AIP) in an exciting final match.
