The Serbian player suggested he might return to the red-and-white team next season.
Crvena Zvezda’s EuroLeague season ended with a close and intense overtime loss to Bayern Munich. Bayern will now face Real Madrid in the next Play-In game.
Despite the tough defeat, Filip Petrusev stood out with 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, hitting 12 of his 14 shots. After the game, he spoke to Meridian Sport about the loss, calling it a “hard-fought game” that felt like a playoff match. He said both teams kept taking the lead and battling through mismatches, and Crvena Zvezda made a strong comeback in the fourth quarter.
Petrusev hinted at a controversial decision in the game but didn’t want to say too much to avoid a fine. “Let them watch it back and see what they did,” he said. He admitted there’s regret because the team had many chances this season but couldn’t capitalize. They ran out of energy in overtime, and small details, like missed free throws, made a big difference.
He also reflected on the season, saying the team lost several close games by just one possession, which kept them out of the playoffs. “If we had won just one or two of those, we’d be in,” he said.
Looking ahead, Petrusev shared his desire to return to Crvena Zvezda next season. “I hope I’ll be here. Why not?” he said, adding that he hopes many players will stay and build on this season.
After joining from Olympiacos mid-season, Petrusev debuted for Crvena Zvezda in Round 6 against Zalgiris Kaunas. He finished the season averaging 14.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
