Final NBA: The 2025 NBA playoffs will start on Saturday.
The 2025 NBA playoff matchups are now confirmed after the final Play-In Tournament games on Friday night. The Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat both secured the No. 8 seeds in their conferences.
The Heat made history by becoming the first No. 10 seed to reach the playoffs, winning an exciting 123-114 overtime game against the Atlanta Hawks. They will now face the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.
The Grizzlies had a strong showing, beating the Dallas Mavericks 120-106. They’ll now take on the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round.
Earlier this week, Miami and Dallas survived elimination by defeating the Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings in the 9/10 play-in games, knocking both teams out.
On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic secured the No. 7 seeds with wins over the Grizzlies and Hawks. Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler scored a combined 75 points for the Warriors, while the Magic cruised past Atlanta with a 25-point win.

The Play-In Tournament includes the teams that finished 7th to 10th in each conference. They compete for the final two playoff spots — the 7th and 8th seeds. First, the 7th and 8th place teams play each other. The winner gets the 7th seed. Then, the 9th and 10th place teams face off. The winner of that match plays the loser of the 7 vs. 8 game. The winner of that final match earns the 8th seed. The teams that lose in the 9 vs. 10 game and the final 8-seed game are eliminated. This tournament format started in 2021.
