PCB Ban Corbin Bosch from PSL after transfer to IPL

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch was selected in the ‘Diamond’ category by Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Peshawar Zalmi. Initially unsold in the IPL auction, Bosch later withdrew from the PSL after being called up as an injury replacement by Mumbai Indians.

Following this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) handed Bosch a one-year ban from the PSL for breaching his contract.

Bosch opted out of the PSL due to the schedule clash with the IPL. In response, the PCB issued him a legal notice. According to a statement on the PCB‘s official website, Bosch expressed regret over his decision and has been banned from playing in the 2026 edition of the league.

Expressing remorse over the incident, Corbin Bosch said, “I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL and sincerely apologize to the people of Pakistan, the Peshawar Zalmi fans, and the entire cricket community. I understand my decision has caused disappointment for many.”

Looking ahead to the possibility of returning to the PSL, Bosch added, “To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the fine and one-year ban as fair consequences. While this has been a tough lesson, I am determined to learn from it and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed spirit and your trust.”

The PCB imposed the punishment to set an example, aiming to prevent players from withdrawing from the PSL to join the IPL in case of schedule overlap.

This year, some Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches will overlap with the Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule. To avoid conflicts and ensure player availability, the PSL draft was held after the IPL auction. Only players who went unsold in the IPL auction were selected for PSL teams.

The PSL draft included several notable names such as David Warner, Daryl Mitchell, Jason Holder, Rassie van der Dussen, and Kane Williamson — all of whom remained unsold in the IPL.

The 10th edition of the PSL kicks off on Friday, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars in the opening match in Rawalpindi.
