A Night of Glory for Portugal and Ronaldo
Portugal Wins Nations League Again
Portugal, led by the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, became champions of the UEFA Nations League once again. They beat Spain 5-3 in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 2-2 draw in 120 minutes. The final was played at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
Cristiano, now 40 years old, was emotional after the victory. He said that winning with Portugal means more to him than any of the 32 trophies he has won in his club career.
Ronaldo’s Greatest Joy
“This Is Bigger Than Club Trophies”
After the final, Ronaldo told Sport TV with tears in his eyes:
“What a joy! This title is for the new generation of players, for our families, and for everyone who believes in us. I have won many trophies with my clubs, but nothing is bigger than winning for Portugal.”
Ronaldo first won a trophy with the national team in Euro 2016. This Nations League win is now his third international title. He scored Portugal’s second equalizer in the final, marking his 138th goal for the national team.
Playing for Portugal Still Feels Special
“Even If I Have to Break My Leg, I’ll Play”
Ronaldo has been playing for Portugal since 2003 and is still proud to wear the national jersey.
“I still feel proud to represent Portugal. Even if I’m hurt, I want to play. I’ll give everything for my country. We are a small nation, but our ambition is huge.”
Like in the 2016 final, Ronaldo had to leave the field early in this match due to injury. But just like before, he supported his team from the sideline until victory came.
